Introduced in January 1968, the HK series progressively replaced Holden's HR series.
HK models were both larger and heavier than their predecessors and their model and variant range on offer would increase to thirteen. Which included the introduction of the two-door, performance coupe, the Monaro, and the longer, luxury Brougham four-door sedan.
The HK was later developed into the successor models, HT and HG - finishing up in 1971.

The HQ was later developed into a series of successor models, HJ, HX and HZ finally ending production when the WB series was discontinued in 1984.
